About humanity candles

Our candles are hand poured by us in Auckland, New Zealand.

About soy wax

Soy wax is a vegetable wax made from the oil of soybeans. Once harvested, the beans are cleaned, cracked, de-hulled and rolled into flakes. The oil is then extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated.

Why use soy wax?
Soy wax comes from an eco-friendly and renewable source, unlike paraffin wax, which is a by-product of petroleum. It contains no GMO material and is non-toxic. Soy wax melts at a temperature of 40-45 degrees Celsius. If spilt, soy wax is easily cleaned up with hot soapy water.
Our glass jars are made in the USA. We have specifically chosen beautifully shaped jars so you can re-use them. They make great mini terrariums or succulent pots.
Our wooden wicks are made in the USA from American Softwood.  The wicks are organic, non-toxic and FSC certified. The soft wicks are made from pure cotton with a paper core and braid running through the wick which helps to deliver a more complete combustion and a cleaner burn.
Our wooden lids are also made in the USA from premium grade Rubberwood which is a light-coloured hardwood obtained from the Pará rubber tree. The tree is harvested for wood when it is no longer useful for latex production; as the trees are felled new crops are planted.
